Starting Tuesday 8/31 @ Stevebucks 6 SLT
There after 3 Tuesdays a month (so I don't conflict with Special's Haiku Speedbuild.. which I like attending anyway Cheesy).  Please keep a watch on the calendar.

I'll be alternating the activities so I'll just give a couple examples of what the event will look like.  Feel free to offer some suggestions to help develop this event to its full potential. Smiley

1st week (8/31): Semi-Open Mic Night. We're just getting started so I'd like it to just be a night of reading poetry.  You can read from a poet you love or your own work.  I'd also like you share with us your interpretation and maybe even a little about why you chose this poem.  You are welcome to use mic but it is completely optional.  Otherwise pasting the work into local is perfectly acceptable (I'll see if I can come up with a free emoter everyone can use).  If there's plenty of time I'd like to have a short discussion of the poems too.  Sort of depends on the time.  This can be as serious or as silly as you want to make it.

For this first event I would really appreciate it if anyone that would like to read to please slip me a notecard with their name, the poem title, and the author (can also be you) so I can get a bit of a head count.  Listeners are certainly welcome.

2nd week (9/7):  PoetrySLAM night.  I chose three judges from the group (It will be different each time).  Each of the rest of tiny group must read a poem of their own creation on a subject of my choosing on the weekend before the event (I will try to accommodate hectic schedules... just let me know if the time frame is beyond ability.  I want to be fair).  You will be judged on adherence to the subject, adherence to your chosen style, and content.  Total of 30 points.  If there's a tie, face-off round.  You must create a poem on the spot in the style of my choosing (sonnet, limerick, etc).  Prizes will cash.  I'll get back to you on how much.

Edit: 1st prize will 300L and 2nd prize 200L!  Woo Hoo!

Rules... sorry there have to be a couple.
1. This shouldn't have to be said but please do not ridicule a reader or put down their poem.  That is completely unacceptable behavior.  This is meant to be a loving, supportive environment.  (Unless of course they tell a silly poem meant for humor... which is totally acceptable and highly encouraged)
2. No riverdance till the end of the event please.
3. Appaws are encouraged after the speaker has finished everything they want to say... but otherwise please no gestures while a reader is speaking.  Accidents happen. I won't give you a hard time for *a* mistake.  Basically it just boils down to: please respect your fellow tiny.
4. Please don't say hello in the middle of a reading.  It causes a long line of hellos back and will break up someone's text if they are typing out their poem.  Once the reader is finished, by all means hello all you like.
5. Please try to respect the sim rules on choice of language and subject matter appropriateness.  I'm not the thought police.  I won't give you a hard time but others might.  Just letting you know this event isn't exempt from sim rules.  (I was thinking of having a dirty limerick night on my land one night.  Let me know if you're interested.)
6. Please provide feedback on how you liked an event, if you have ideas on how to make it better, or just have a theme you'd like to see happen.  This is everyone's event.  I'm just the host. Smiley

I also want to add that I can do a Euro time slot if there's call for it.  If you could reply here or IM me and let me know you're interested I'll find a way to make it happen. Smiley
